Weight Loss Maintenance Workshop
Thank you to all the participants in the Weight Loss Maintenance workshop held in Edinburgh on 9 March. The aim of the day was to debate the “recipe” for successful weight management with specific focus on weight loss maintenance. Different definitions of weight loss maintenance were presented and the results of the National Weight Control Registry (www.nwcr.ws) were discussed. Research findings on the recommended diet composition, exercise and behaviour strategies for weight loss maintenance were debated. Some interesting and very positive discussions were had on the day with a few comments from delegates below.
Made me think about...
“ …weight loss maintenance context of running groups and how best to support people after the group”
“….knowledge regarding weight regain, exercise for maintenance, weight loss maintenance phase, daily weighing”
I loved...
“….all the evidence – very well researched and thorough.”
“….the way the training was delivered in a relaxed environment and in an interesting and stimulating manner. Loved the music and pictures. Variety”
Implementation in practice?
“Will go back and think about how groups are run at the moment and how best to support people for 9 months after intervention which is currently 3 months. This is a key time in weight loss maintenance, therefore may review goals expected of clients”
“Very beneficial in putting ideas into practice by inclusion of exercise and regular weighing”
