This paper documents the final outcomes from the original research phase of Counterweight from 2000-2005. Primary outcome measures were weight change and achieving >5% loss at 12 and 24m. Mean weight change for those in the programme at least 12m and with follow up data was -3.0kg and at 24m was -2.3kg. At 12m 30.7% and at 24m 31.9% attenders had lost >5% from baseline. Factors associated with improved weight loss (kg) were being male, increased number of visits, higher baseline BMI and absence of diabetes and arthritis.
