The Counterweight Programme in England is funded by government money made available to Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) to undertake obesity management training.

Health economic evaluation of Counterweight
A health economic evaluation of the Counterweight Programme, carried out in collaboration with the York Health Economics Consortium, concluded that the intervention was cost effective and in fact cost saving over a patient lifetime. Investment in weight management therefore proving economically prudent in the current climate.
