Testimonials from NHS Counterweight Clinicians
I have found the mentoring process a unique opportunity to learn from each other. Initially delivering the programme whilst the Practice staff observe makes one very self aware. A behavioural person centred approach can be both rewarding and challenging and a good way to learn this approach is to try it with patients during mentoring. Practice Staff often feel a little intimidated about the thought of being mentored but soon they see it as a supportive environment and feel it is the best way of learning how to deliver the programme whilst meeting their own personal needs. It is great to see the staff growing in confidence and feeling enthusiastic about Counterweight.’

Delivering Counterweight training to practitioners has been very rewarding and helped in my own personal development. It is a pleasure to work with a programme which is structured, evidenced based and one which is underpinned by a behavioural approach. The three training sessions include presentations, group work, and brainstorming. The training is informal, interactive to create a safe environment to learn about weight management.
