You may have heard the word “prediabetes” or been told by your doctor that you have prediabetes. What does it mean and what should your next steps be?
Did you know that in 2019, every three minutes someone was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in England and Wales? Newer analysis shows that numbers continue to grow and that over 4.9 million people are currently living with diabetes in the UK alone, with 90% of those with type 2.
There are a number of risk factors that can lead to the development or the worsening of type 2 diabetes. Some of these risk factors can't be modified, such as our genetics, and some of them can, such as our weight. By being aware of the factors that you CAN act on, you can minimise your risk of developing type 2 diabetes as well as reduce the risk of its progression.
